Description

Blazon. Per bend sinister wavy Gules and Azure, below in chief a polestar Or garnished of the last surmounted by an octagon of the first charged with a cross pattée Argent, in base three chevronels Or.


Symbolism

Shield.  The white cross pattee saltirewise on the red field alludes to and identifies the Academy with the Eighth U.S. Army.  The chevronnels represent the noncommissioned ranks and refer to the present mission Eighth Army Wightman Noncommissioned Officer Academy.

The original device was approved on 01 July 1971.  The design was revised 23 September 2022.

Blazon.  A Gold color metal and epoxy device 1-3/16 inches (3.01cm) in height overall blazoned as follows: Per bend sinister wavy Gules and Azure, below in chief a polestar Or garnished of the last surmounted by an octagon of the first charged with a cross pattée Argent, in base three chevronels Or. Attached to bottom of the shield, a Blue scroll inscribed “BY EXAMPLE” in gold letters.
